ALKALINE TRIO REVIEW IN REVOLVER MAGAZINE

You don't have to smear yourself with Benjamin Moore or shriek your nuts off to be satanic: Alkaline Trio's singer-guitarist Matt Skiba is a proud member of the Church of Satan, yet he wears skinny ties and has a damn good voice. On this major label debut, Skiba and his two rhythm aces take an already proven pop-punk formula and refine it even further. "Hole in My Chest" and "In Vein" reveal a devilish blending of chunky guitars and tight, bass-driven grooves, showing a Jam-and APB-like flair. Adding to the trio's propulsive snarl is a fresh focus on spellbinding atmospheric that Anton LaVey would dig. JEFF PERLAH
